Mr Wal Hussein consulted as a full-time OHS professional for Qantas IT Services from November 2005 until February 2007.
In his time with us he has been involved in a number of OHS initiatives and tasks. In 2005, Wal audited the existing Group safety system against the NSW Self-Insurer Model and as a result a number of OHS issues were identified.
Wal produced an extensive gap analysis and generated an implementation plan to set the organisation on a journey to a systematic approach to safety, underpinned by Group guidelines and the NSW WorkCover Self-Insurer Model.
Wal project managed, developed and implementation a new OHS management system tailored to our organisational need and requirements. With limited resources and aggressive timelines, all tasks undertaken by Wal were completed, on budget and according to the set schedule.
Wal has been invaluable to this organisation as an OHS professional. His professionalism, enthusiasm and vast OHS knowledge has helped the organisation meet all OHS targets and objectives for the year.

Australian Health Management recently outsourced the services of Mr Wal Hussein to conduct an AS/NZS 4801 audit for our Wollongong branch as well as a compliance audit/hazard survey for both our Wollongong branch and our 3 Dental and Eye Clinics across NSW.
Mr Hussein presented with a broad depth of knowledge in the area of health and safety and conducted the audit in a professional manner. His attention to detail throughout the audit process was well received along with his non-threatening manner. Mr Hussein offered advice through the audit, which was relevant and has since been adopted throughout the organisation.
The result of the audit, along with the accompanying report and recommendations, met the needs of the organisation and the organisation has since made contact with Mr Hussein to perform further consulting work.
